Favicon Generator - Create Favicons from Any Image

About the Favicon Generator

Favicons appear in browser tabs, bookmarks, home screen shortcuts, and search results. Modern browsers and devices expect multiple sizes and formats: an ICO file for legacy support, PNG files for modern browsers, an Apple Touch Icon for iOS, and larger icons for Android home screens and PWAs.

This tool takes a single source image and generates every size you need. Upload a square PNG (512x512 or larger is ideal), preview each output size, and download everything as a ZIP file. The ZIP includes all image files, a web manifest, and the HTML link tags to paste into your <head>.

How to Use

Drag and drop an image onto the upload area, or click to select a file. The tool generates previews for all six sizes. Enter your site name (used in the web manifest), then copy the HTML tags and click download to get the ZIP. Extract the ZIP contents to the root of your website and paste the HTML tags into your <head>.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes are generated?
The tool generates 16x16, 32x32, and 48x48 (packed into a single ICO file), 180x180 (Apple Touch Icon), and 192x192 and 512x512 (for Android Chrome and PWA manifests).
What image format should I upload?
A square PNG at 512x512 or larger gives the best results. You can also upload JPG, SVG, or WebP. Non-square images will be scaled to fit, which may look distorted at small sizes.
What is the ICO file?
ICO is the traditional favicon format understood by all browsers. This tool creates a multi-resolution ICO file containing 16x16, 32x32, and 48x48 versions. The browser picks the best size for the context (tab bar, bookmarks, shortcuts, etc.).
What is in the ZIP download?
The ZIP contains: favicon.ico (multi-size), individual PNG files for each size, apple-touch-icon.png, android-chrome PNGs, and a site.webmanifest file. Copy all files to the root of your website.
Does the tool upload my image to a server?
No. All image processing runs locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your machine.
